Welcome!

My name is Art Young. I am Campbell Chair in Technical Communication and Professor of English and Professor of Engineering at Clemson University in South Carolina. I founded Clemson's Communication-Across-the-Curriculum program in 1989 and began the Poetry-Across-the-Curriculum initiative in 2000.

If you would like to know more about my work, please visit my resume page which includes an updated vita. Below are the two main projects I'm involved with now.

Teaching & Learning Creatively

Our goal is to expand possibilities for students' creative responses to academic subject matter through various forms of creativity: graphics, poetry, music, stories, performance, parables, video, hypertext, quilts, e-poetry, photography, poster design and publication, sculpture, mixed and fused modes and media, and other fascinating genres and media that we know our students will generate. Find out more about this project.

Communication Across the Curriculum

An expansion of the Writing Across the Curriculum movement, CAC broadens the focus of written communication to oral and visual communication. Writing is joined in an interactive social process with other forms of communication to promote critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving within and across the disciplines.
