Do you have some extra time and a furry friend you would like to share? We are looking for volunteers.
What’s so special about the SCDogs Therapy Group, Inc.?
Our teams are trained, tested, registered, and insured.
SCDogs Therapy Group, Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit organization with over 40 volunteers and a wide variety of breeds. Our animals include rabbits and cats, as well as dogs. We participate in animal-assisted activities (meet and greet activities), animal-assisted education (speaking to schools, community organizations), and many community events such as fairs and parades. We also participate in animal-assisted therapy (goal-directed therapeutic interventions). We visit nursing and assisted living homes, hospitals, mental health facilities, schools, Hospice, and many more. Additional volunteers are needed, because we have a waiting list of facilities.
Testing:
Our human-canine teams participate in the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen program with registered AKC evaluators. Teams must also pass the SCDogs Aptitude test. We strive to provide a very realistic atmosphere for testing and include any interactions the animals may encounter during our work.
We currently visit only in Anderson, Pickens, Oconee counties and North Georgia.
